It started out with a few spots but over the last week it has gotten progressively worse. At the last pediatric visit we were told it was baby acne. However now it's spreading to his upper chest. We're returning to the doctor next week for his one month check up. In the meantime any thoughts?

My vote is for acne. Jack had the same looking thing at that age (http://www.flickr.com/photos/amyandmelissa/4514556315/in/set-72157623471617555/) and it cleared up after awhile. It was awful to see though, I always thought it looked so painful :(
im voting acne too, my girl had it also. their bodies are just trying to process all of the hormones leftover from pregnancy. it goes away quickly.
he is *so* cute!!!
Thanks guys. I love our docs and really trust them but my mother and brother were really insistent on it being a rash so I started to question it.
Gia suggested Calendula creme so we'll try that out to see what happens or just let it ride it's course.
Try putting breast milk on it. When Sydnee got baby acne on her eye lids, I put breast milk on it and 12 hours later it had almost disapeared completely.
Jess- I've heard breastmilk is the cure all for many things. Never thought about trying it on his face.
look at gia stealing our shine! yes, calendula creme, but i'm sure it is baby acne. GP had the same thing. and given his age, this is when it tends to pop up.
Giggle-Lol. gia told me about the creme via text and then directed me to her blog entry where she said u guys told her about it.
Do you eat a lot of dairy products? If the rash is around his mouth and his butt, it could be an allergy, but probably just acne or baby eczema.
hahah i give credit where creidt is due! hehehe
We used baby phisoderm and it all disappeared. Congrads on your beautiful baby boy.
