The Name Game

Danielle and I cannot seem to agree on a first name for Sugarplum and we may be one of "those" parents who just waits to see what the baby looks like before naming. This gives me both a sense of a relief about not being locked into a name and maybe wanting to add something to the short list later but then I also feel a little flaky about not being able to decide on a name. At any rate, I thought I'd share them with you. Please note that the name with the most votes does not necessarily mean we'll use that name. It's just for fun.

Please cast you votes to the right.

***BTW- thanks for those who provided feedback on Gracie and the poop situation. I think we are going to reevaluate the food she eats. I was making homemade food for her in the past (rice, ground chicken, carrots, celery and parsley) but stopped about a month ago (laziness) and switched to Pedigree dog food (total random choice). I may have to go back to the homemade or find a good canned choice for her. We mix it with her kibble.

If I could have signed in, I would have voted for Nicholas... it's my nephew's name and I love it so. He's recently decided to call himself Nick, though, so we have to adjust.

Many sweet choices. You'll pick the right one at just the right time!

I suggest all natural dog foods. The dogs get more out of each serving and you don't have to feed as much nor get as much poo.

Natural Balance is a good mid range in price food that comes in a dry kibble and canned. Dogs don't actually need the canned mixed in with the kibble to like it WE humans just like the way it smells and looks. Straight dry produces less tartar on the teeth.

Those are all great names. Whatever you decide, I definitely think you should keep it a secret. It is fun to announce the name after the birth.

we didnt fully commit to a name until the birth, i just couldnt seem to connect the name to a person i hadnt seen yet! im with luckyduck, its fun to have something to announce also.

I changed the poll. This one doesn't require a sign in. I agree, it will be fun to announce the final name at birth.

Picking a final name is the hard part for me too, I have picked a name, but now I'm wondering what if the name doesn't fit when I see her. Anyways, I picked Nicholas.

I must be weird. Both of my kids were named months before they were born, no debate, no questions asked.
Jayden reminds me of Britney Spears, but I like Nicholas.

I like the first three names equally, and couldn't decide between them to vote. Really, I was hoping that your son's legal name would be Sugar Plum.

I voted for Nicholas. Would it help if you considered that he will probably be called just his first name and surname by most but his mamas? How do they sound with your surname(s) and how are you doing that part of the name?
As for the dog food, don't feel guilty for not doing homemade - you got lots to do! We have always fed ours the more 'natural' foods without all the ' fillers' . Our doggies have very funny tummies and we are currently feeding them something that works great for them but is expensive. I was reading in an animal rescue magazine that dogs and cats need more protein and less carbs than they get in lots of foods and thst only feeding dry foo. Is hard on their tummies and can lead to dehydration. I mix wet with dry and dogs love it! Good luck finding the right combo!

I put my vote in for Tyler Preston. I think Tyler is such a cute name! I also have to agree with Rachelbk that Jayden reminds me of Britney Spears - remember Britney's older son is Sean Preston so that is very close. Of course that should NEVER stop you from choosing a name but be forewarned that people may make the connection!!!
