The other day I gave Gracie a kong with kong paste and she threw up. I chalked it up to being overly playful after eating it and not allowing her stomach to settle (kinda like the 30 minute no swimming after eating rule). Tonight, she ate, played with her biological siblings (Danielle took her over for a visit), ate some more when got home and threw up literally like 5-6 times. By the end it was just liquid/foam like. Poor Gracie, it was a rough night for her.
Of course, Danielle freaks out and makes me google Parvo disease. I don't think she has that. I think it was just a combo eating too much and the car ride. But just in case it wasn't, any thoughts? It's interesting to see how Danielle and I react to these "parenting" situations. Danielle is definitely the anxious worrier and I'm the very laid back, lets observe and see kind of person. I wonder how this will work out when we have actual children.
Tomorrow, we buy pet insurance.

Vomiting that much in a puppy is not a good thing. You should probably have her checked out. When she does stuff like this things you should look at to decide if she needs to be seen are her general attitude (looking for lethargy, behavioral changes, or postures that don't seem normal), the color of her gums, pale gums or gums that don't come back immediately to normal color when pressed on are a sign that something is wrong, and if you feel like you can do it taking her temp normal for dogs is 101.

any time scooter throws up foam, it's because he's ate something he shouldn't have and it's stuck in his digestive tract. typically it passes in a day or so and he's back to normal, but he's also a grown man dog.
is she still pooping regularly and stuff? i would watch for signs and see. did she have her pup shots?
a lot of times with scooter, i just have to wait and see what happens. typically he gets back on track after a day or so, but if she doesn't you should take her to be seen.
Oh no, poor Gracie! Usually, if dogs get to the point of throwing up foam it's more than just being overly playful after eating. With my dog, it's usually just because she ate something stupid that she can't pass easily like a stuffed animal. Can the person you got her from recommend a good vet in case the puking doesn't stop?
Poor Gracie! I would visit the vet - esp for a puppy. A sick puppy is very much like a sick baby in my mind. And the pet insurance will help but it is never anything like people insurance - you pay a lot for it and only get some back. I have had it for my old doggies for years because I had a friend whose dog jumped off the bed and broke it's leg and it cost $3000 and that scared me. Insurance is good for catastrophic and very expensive illnesses and injuries, but for regular vet care it does not pay that much. I still have it though - so I guess I think it's worth it. I agree with what KM said about signs to look for and the other poster posts too.
I would also go easy on the kong paste ( not sure what it is) but my advice about food and dogs ( or any animals ) is not too much, NO table scraps or feeding from the table and keep it simple and don't overwhelm her with lots of different tastes and kinds of stuff. A lot of the stuff they have at pet stores is nasty stuff - especially "treats"! So that's my long advice for you:)
Good luck! Have you seen the dog whisperer ? some people swear by him. there are so many different schools of thought about this though. Hope she feels better soon.
