Daycare

Gracie is off to doggy daycare starting next week. If someone told me that I would be paying for doggy daycare a year ago, I would have told them they were nuts but here I am. We identified two daycare facilites, Doglogic and Camp Bow Wow. I really like some of the amenities of Camp Bow Wow but it's further away and pick up is at 6:30pm which is not convenient for us. However, they have a webcam so you can log on to their website to see your dog during the day, which we both find very cool but maybe it's a good thing we don't go there because it will only heighten Danielle's helicopter mom behavior. They are so pretentious though. Why? Because Gracie would have an interview and if she passed the preliminary interview she would be "invited" to stay for a few more hours so they could monitor her behavior. If she passed that then she would be accepted into their program. How hilarious is that? I know our Gracie would pass with flying colors because she's a really good dog. Very social and up until now has never attempted to bite another pup. She has, however, been the victim of a few dogs (and our cat) trying to snip at her.

Doglogic doesn't seem as fancy as Camp Bow Wow from their website but they are closer and stay open later, with a pick up time until 11pm. Wednesdays are really long days for Gracie because of my work schedule. She's able to hold it but but recently she was so excited to see us and really had to go that she peed all over my shirt and pants on the way to the potty (I was carrying her). It's just a long day. So Friday Danielle and I will take a look at the facility and see if it meets her needs. They have an inground playground, an inground pool, an outdoor playground and areas for them to nap at their leisure. The other nice thing is that she will be grouped with other similar sized puppies.

So off to daycare she goes. Lord, what will they think up of next?

Please please please go to Camp Bow Wow just so you can tell us what happens at a dog interview! That is absolutely crazy. Honestly though, Doglogic does sound very nice, and far more convenient for you. Are they similarly priced?

Ha ha, now I'm tempted to schedule an interview just for the hell of it. Then when she gets accepted we can snobbishly decline their invitation and tell them we found somewhere else for our little furbaby to attend!!!!! I laughed so hard when I saw that she would have to interview. Maybe I'll schedule an appt because that interview/first day is free so what the hell? She can play with other dogs for the day.

The prices:

Daycare for Doglogic: $20
Daycare for Camp BW: $24

Overnight for Doglogic: $24
Overnight for Camp BW: $40

Actually if we like Doglogic we may have to take Gracie there this weekend because we were just asked to go to Philly. We could ask Danielle's family but I don't want to worry about her having an accident on someone elses carpet.

Great idea! Our dogs would never pass the temperament test! great with people - not so with other dogs. I think it is a very kind thing to do for Gracie and it will really pay off for all of you. Can't wait for a report and pics!
